This is the song that Mercer Ellington composed in which the great Woody Herman Big Band played in the 70`s. This arrangement was done by Dave Lalama. Most of the times I have my two tenor sax players battle it out,but this time I wanted to feature the great Lenny Rojas on alto to trade solos with Tom Ellison on tenor sax. This is just a wonderful swinging arrangement that is so much fun to play. Jim Burge on soprano sax also takes a solo on this chart. It`s rare to have a Big Band play in a club these days,so it was just like the old road Big Bands, doing one night stands at the small clubs around the country. This one is Bacalao a club in Sarasota Florida. Ken Loomer-Leader & Drummer For Booking Information, go to kenloomer.com
