This is a generic intro for a typical showreel. I've done this as the submission for the VFX module (3D Animation Yr1) at Lifeway College (Auckland, NZ). THE RATIONALE There are 3 things I want to be in the look of the title sequence of my showreel. They are: minimalism, depth and cinematic-look. The perspective being set up in this intro is the looking down a spiky rock valley from the top of a cliff. The particles are like the glow-worms, flying around the valley. The title, my name, appear from somewhere down the valley and gradually fly up, closer the eye-level. The particle effects and glow effects are appplied in this intro to simulate the existence of the glow-worms. Some Lens Blur is also added to the "glow-worm" particles to make it look like appearing from further. This also helps to create some depth. To give the intro even more depth and the cinematic look, The focus is racked (shift the focus) from the background (the valley) to the title. Which mean at this moment, the title just flies up, higher than the down area of the valley. At the end of the intro, the particles are killed, the background fades to black and the text color changes to which on black background. This is the transition to any other content might be plugged into the intro in the future. A san-serif type is used in the intro in order to give it a clean look. Most of the techniques used in this intro are learn from VideoCopilot, the famous one-stop-shop for all solutions for After Effects. Via this assessment, I learnt how to utilize the VideoCopilot's Twitch plug-in to create the shaking effect from the very beginning of the intro.
