Onset of ice on Midway Pond, west side of Saddleback Mountain, western Maine. Low sunlight and cold temperatures caused the camera to discontinue collecting pictures in mid-December. The large lakes in the area didn't have complete ice cover until early January, and the pictures here show that permanent ice may not have been established before the end of the record.
