From their website: gNewSense is a fully free software GNU/Linux distribution. Free software is software that respects your freedom. You can use it without restrictive licenses, make copies for your friends, school or business. To use free software is to make a political and ethical choice asserting your rights to learn and to share what you learn with others. http://www.gnewsense.org The OsGUIShow channel posted a video where Richard Stallman of the Free Software Foundation stated that he uses gNewSense and I had to give it a quick try. Here are my first impressions from a quick virtualbox install (which of course is not free by their defination it's owned by Sun Microsystems) so I think they'd probably frown on this video. For more information on the Free Software Foundation visit their website at fsf.org Note: Sorry for the artifacting

May 7, 2012 - To be more specific, it must be said that the GPL allows anyone to distribute any part with or without charge. It is owned by someone (the author) and the owner gives permission to use it in any way but to ristrict other people. The rights of usage (distribution, modification etc.) are owned by everybody because of the chain of sub-licensing.

May 7, 2012 - At 1:01 it is actually not a problem of the DVD medium itself, because you surely can burn for example a data disc with the ISO 9660 format, which is a standard with no patents on it and a free implementation available and no patents on it. The problem arises from proprietary and technically restricted multimedia formats which are enforced i.e. by DVD player hardware. What would it be if you could not burn a free OS on a DVD to boot and install from ;-)

May 10, 2012 - @skreutzerVideos You're right. I actually looked into the GPL a little further.

Feb 9, 2012 - Entirely free and open source software is extremely important. Anyone can use it. The GNU General Public License covers this entire distribution and it's default applications. No one can ever claim copywrite infringement because it's "copyleft" meaning this licenese allows anyone to distribute any part without free of charge; it's not owned by anyone; it's owned by everyone.
