Homeless Aboriginal People in Darwin are often called 'long grassers'. Many are taken into custody at night to the sobering-up centre, known as the 'Spin Dry' because while the clients are 'drying out' overnight in clean pyjamas their clothes are washed and dried ready for their release early next morning. The 'long grass' people are constantly harassed by authorities and denounced in the media as 'itinerants' although many of them have lived in the city longer than those who criticise their lifestyle. Many of the homeless view their lifestyle in bush camps as resistance to the invasion of Aboriginal land by settlers from the south. Apart from the 'Spin dry' their other interaction with the imposed systems of control is the Centrelink Office, which administers social security. Since this experimental film was made, welfare payments have been further managed by 'income quarantining' through the 'Basic card' that requires half the weekly income to be spent on approved goods and services. This film follows a cyclist as he traverses the separatist world of 'Aboriginal Darwin' on his way to the Laundromat. There he meets an Aboriginal man literally trapped in the cycle of Spin Dry and Centrelink, revealing the lack of communication between the Aboriginal and white citizens of Darwin.
