May 19, 2012 - My TV supports HD to 1080p and I do have all settings up to 1080i. I don't think the cables are bad though because I took the cables that I used for my old Happauge PVR (where the tv quality was better) into the AVerMedia and still the same bad tv quality.

May 19, 2012 - My mistake this version doesn't even have a s-video nor composite input. And both only have component output so a couple questions were useless. Anyway at this point is does seem like a problem with the unit. You should probably send it back for a replacement.

May 19, 2012 - When you change video output settings on the ps3 after you choose component it ask you to "Select all resolutions supported by your TV". Do all the boxes have a check mark up to 1080i? What kind of tv do you have? CRT or HD? If HD, 720p or 1080p? Also some games will only display 720p. While it is very possible that you simply have a bad unit it is also possible you have bad cables for your ps3. Do you have some cheaper ones or the official sony ps3 component cable?
