This is after a single day of use. By comparison, the HD501LJ that I bought in 2008 reports zero recalibration errors after 4 years of daily usage.

Feb 14, 2012 - Update: I RMA'd the drive, obvioulsy - today I got an email from SCAN saying that they'd tested the drive and claimed that there was nothing wrong with it! Fortunately, I paid with PayPal and have now opened a dispute. Do not ever give these people your card details.
