hi everyone! here's a video on how to synthesize facial features in a smaller size, suitable for a fashion croquis. it is slow and longer, as some of you requested, so I hope it's not too boring :) as you will see, there are some differences from the previous vid, since what works in the big size doesn't work in the smaller dimension. tricks: - do not outline the whole features, or everything will become too dark and your little face will appear weird - make everything symmetric - use 0.05 for the smallest details, and 0.1 for the thicker lines - use a grey pencil for eyebrows (and for smoothening the fineliner outlines) - render the nose by drawing 2 little orizontal reversed commas and a small "U" connecting them - shade the nose on ONE SIDE only and do it only using the skin color marker (no fineliners!) - use markers+ color pencil on the hair, roughly, to keep their texture - use a white gel pen (not shown in this vid) to recover the white eyes areas covered by marker, and add some shine to the iris and the mouth as usual: please consider that everything I show it's not a rule, but an ensemble of tips and tricks to get a quick result and avoid the common mistakes. I encourage you to try to get your own style as soon as you get experienced with the basics! see you soon! keep posting your feedback! thanks for watching!

Feb 15, 2012 - bristol it's fine for mixed media. if you mainly use copic or pantone, you better draw your definitive illustrations on marker bleedproof paper. :)
