This project addresses the problem of peak to average power ratio (PAPR) reduction in multi-band transmitters by PTS approaches. In the conventional PTS approaches, the computational complexity is high and need to transmit side information, which is hard for hardware implementation. Aiming at the problems, a PTS algorithm which using gray code to reduce the complexity is proposed. The MATLAB simulation proved the algorithm is workable. Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) has been chosen for the cellular mobile radio standard 3GPP LTE and future broadband wireless access standards due to it has high spectral effciency and low complex receiver. However,a major drawback of OFDM is the high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of transmitted signals resulting in OFDM signals distortion in the nonlinear region of high power amplifier and high bit error rate. To alleviate PAPR problem in an OFDM system, various solutions have been proposed such as selective mapping (SLM), partial transmit sequence (PTS) and active constellation extension (ACE).
