A strong earthquake rocked the Philippines today. The 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck near Cebu and Bacolod in the southern Philippines just before noon. According to the Philippine Institute for Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the quake was centered between the islands of Cebu and Negros. A tsunami alert has been raised. Initial reports say 1 person has died. Update:4 aftershocks have been felt after the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck Negros and Cebu at 11:49 AM, according to Phivolcs. Locations of the earthquake was 5 kilometers northwest of Tayasan, Negros Oriental at 11: 50 am. The quake was tectonic in origin. Intensity VII -- Dumaguete City Intensity VI -- La Carlota City and La Castellana, Negros Occidental Intensity V -- Roxas City; Dao and Ivisan, Capiz; Iloilo City Intensity IV -- San Jose de Buenavista and Pandan Antique; Ayungon, Negros Oriental; Kalibo, Aklan; Sagay, Negros Occidental; Dipolog City Intensity III -- Butuan City, Agusan del Norte; Legaspi City, Albay; Carmen, Cagayan de Oro Intensity II -- Cabid-an, Sorsogon Location: I'm inside a friend's house in Alta Tierra Village, Jaro Iloilo.

Feb 6, 2012 - My ex lives in Saitama Japan, foreshocks & aftershocks with magnitudes 6, 7, 8 or 9 is an ordinary tremble in their everyday lives after the March 11, 2011 earthquake. So far Japan had experienced over 900 aftershocks after the magnitude 9.0 earthquake.

My mother and brother stay in MOLO they are fine just my mum have a little nervous hope she will over come it soon.

Feb 7, 2012 - the earthquake was really strong i was in school having lunch when it happened we rushed down immediatly we only had half day after that then at 7:30 there was a strong aftershock

Feb 11, 2012 - Salamat sa pagbahagi mo ng iyong karanasan, although masamang karanasan. Pasalamat pa rin ang karamihan satin at 6.9 lang sa Cebu-Negros at 5 sa Iloilo. Sa Japan nga 9.0 pa at tsunami agad, just imagine kung gaano iyon kalakas :( So far pinakamalakas kong n-experience ay 7.8 magnitude nung 1990 nsa loob ako ng Harrison Plaza s Malate..

Feb 25, 2012 - I'm in Manila right now but will be back in Iloilo hopefully on May. The earthquake happened last Feb. 6 & we we're on a friend's house editing video when the quake jolted the city.
