Fellow werewolf Tom learns that Nina was killed on the orders of chief vampire Griffin, a police officer now anxious to slay the baby as the first child born to a couple of lycanthropes. In fact the child turns out to be completely human but George pays a heavy price in protecting her and wiping out Griffin and his cell,with some help from disgruntled vampire Dewi and vampire recorder Regus. Across town lives another trio of ghost Pearl,vampire Hal and werewolf Leo though Leo is elderly and unlikely to survive yet another transformation. Regus believes the baby will save the world and a look into the future in a quarter of a century shows the world needs saving - from vampire domination.
