Films to expect in 2nd IAFF Golden Kuker 2011

From 28 September to 2 October 2011, the second edition of the Festival of Young Animation - International Animation Film Festival "Golden Kuker - Sofia" will take place in ARENA-ZAPAD cinema, hall 13. The films received this year exceed 340 and they come from 51 countries. 137 were selected to compete for 11 awards. There were 32 entries of Bulgarian animation films, of which 15 were selected to compete. The screenings will be of interest to the general public, because for the first time viewers will have the chance to see films from all continents and from exotic countries such as Kenya, South Africa, Equatorial Guinea, Singapore and Iran. The jury this year consist of: famous Bulgarian born animator and director Rumen Petkov ("Treasure Planet", "Johnny Bravo", etc..) who will conduct a Workshop at NATFA on 3 October 2011 at 2 p.m.; Bill Dennis - Chairman of the jury, former Executive Director of the International Association of Animated Film and Honorary President of ASIFA - India; Marc Bertrand - Canadian producer who will lecture a Masterclass with screenings of STEREOSKOPIC 3D films on 1 October, 2011 at 7 p.m. in hall 13 of ARENA-ZAPAD cinema. Members of the jury this year will also be film critic Alexander Grozev and talented animation director and producer Vessela Dantcheva ("Anna Blume"). On 27 September at 6:30 pm, at photo gallery "PHOTOSYNTHESIS" will open a two-week long exhibition and will be held a Workshop for young artists. The exhibition will showcase works of young animators from Bulgarian Association of Independent Cartoon Animation Artists (BAICAA) "Proyko Proykov" and students from New Bulgarian University.
