White Road - Waiting for the Rain land art project ˝White road˝ is a unique land art project that originated in the Park of Sculptures in Labin, Croatia, as part of the Mediterranean Sculptors' Symposium per Josip Diminic's idea. The road includes thirteen different sections made by different authors on 325 meters in length (each section is 25 meters) and 5 meters in width. The road creates a one-of-a-kind cultural space ideal for taking a walk, enjoying the nature and the visual experience. 13th section named ˝Waiting for the rain˝ is made from 1245 square blocks made of a highly polished limestone (locally characteristic stone that can be found locally in Kanfanar), where 806 have cut-out circles which make up the title of the whole project White road (Bijela cesta). The second dimension includes nature and weather as an integral part of its look. In the cut-out circles -- bowls, they collect ˝gifts of nature˝ (water, leaves, earth...) while the surface follows all changes in nature including reflections, images, lights and shadows which change its look depending on sun's position during the day. Also, the natural aging of the stone and the breath and the spirit of the earth will grant the project with more charm over time. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Design: Studio Rašić Creative director: Ante Rašić Designers: Ante Rašić, Vedrana Vrabec, Marko Rašić Fabrication: Graditeljstvo Jakovljević Client: Mediterranean Sculptors' Symposium, Dubrova, Labin (Josip Diminić, Gorka Ostojić Cvajner, Slavko Baterić) Year: 2008 Location (city, country): Park of Sculptures, Labin, Croatia
