11/20/2011-Cove, PA: We start the second morning of our first fall journey to the very Eastern part of the NS Pittsburgh Line off in Cove, PA. We'll start the morning off with an NS M2G (Extra NS 12G) with 2 NS C40-9W's sandwiching a UP C40-8. Then NS 18N rolls Eastbound with two NS C40-9W's running elephant style. Next, it was off to the Duncannon station, but the NS Pittsburgh Line went dead and instead, we'll catch a meet on the NS Buffalo Line across the river from the Duncannon station. First up is NS H2W heading Northbound with an NS C40-9W and a GMTX SD60. Then, less than five minutes later, NS 11R rolls Southbound with 2 NS C40-9W's and an NS SD70. The final train of the trip is Amtrak 04T at MP PT 117.0 with AMTK P42DC 67 and a very cool crew too. Amtrak 04T will conclude the first late fall trip to the Eastern end of the NS Pittsburgh Line. 12/10/2011-Marysville, PA: We'll begin our second, and better, trip back to the Harrisburg area at the famous Rockville Bridge in Marysville, PA. NS M9G (Extra NS 19G) starts the day off as it races across the Rockville Bridge with 2 NS C40-9W's. Then, shortly afterward, the NS/CSX PPLX coal train 683 I spotted in the NS Enola Yard moved out sooner than expected. Not only was this a rare CSX "Silver Snake" Coal Train, but it had an ex-UP, now HLCX SD60 leading a CSX GP40-2 slug set. Usually powered by CSX widecabs, NS 683 runs along NS trackage on a very unpredictable schedule. This was an extremely rare catch and I'm glad I got to Rockville when I did, lol. As the 683 makes its way across the Susquehanna River, I decided to leave for the NS Pittsburgh Line since it took nearly 10 minutes for the 683 to cross the Rockville Bridge. Shortly after I got to Cove, Amtrak 04T rolls Eastbound through with AMTK P42DC 78, and NS 14G follows afterward with 3 NS C40-9W's. NS 23Z makes its way Westbound shortly afterward with an NS C40-8W and an NS SD70M-2. Not a bad lash-up at all for an intermodal. Then, it was off to CP CANNON for a bit where I met up with my friend Andrew. First was NS 21M with an NS SD70M-2 and 2 NS C40-9W's and a cool crew. Then, the last train of the day was the long-awaited NS 573 with a sweet NS SD70ACe/KCSM AC44CW lash-up and a cool crew. NS SD70ACe 1037 still looked fresh and you could almost smell the fresh paint. I visited Hershey, PA on the NS Harrisburg Line and Cove, Pa again on the trip, but that will be saved for another video at a later time. Enjoy! Please rate, comment, and subscribe.

Feb 9, 2012 - The blue unit at 1:14 was in High Point, NC a couple weeks ago. Looks like either a former conrail or EMD demo unit.

Feb 9, 2012 - sometime about a month or so ago I saw one of those roll through Muncie IN. I am almost positive it is an EMD demo unit.

Feb 9, 2012 - Niiiiiice one, the title couldn't describe this video any better. I've finally got some of those ACe's coming my way in New England on an NS coal train destined for New Hampshire, though I doubt I'll be able to time a daytrip to catch either the eastbound loads or the westbound empties as Pan Am is such a cluster$#*@ when it comes to running trains. That horn on 23Z's leader sounded like nothing but a track off of the "Conrail Greatest Hits Album" if there ever would be such a thing.
