Hey guys, thanks for tuning in to Clevver Movies, I'm Tatiana Carrier here in our Hollywood studios. It's been announced that director Brian De Palma's next project will be a remake of 'Heat'. Now I know you fans of Michael Mann's 1995 L.A. crime drama starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro are saying WTF right about now, but let me ease your concerns. It's not THAT 'Heat'. Brian De Palma will be shopping his remake of the 1987 Burt Reynolds flick 'Heat' to financiers at the European Film Market this weekend... . Jason Statham is set to star as a tough recovering gambling addict who is drawn into trouble when he helps a friend get revenge on the mobster who beat her. Statham's character refuses to resort to a gun, and instead uses phsysical strength and sharp objects in fights. This film is being billed as a 'tightly-wound, fun action-thriller,' which is no surprise since it was written by the man who created 'The Princess Bride' and directed by the man who brought 'Carrie' and 'Scarface' to the big screen. . 'Heat' is based on William Goldman's novel of the same name. Goldman wrote the script to the original 1987 film, and he will also be adapting the script of De Palma's remake. The first film grossed $34 million in the US. . 'Heat' will begin shooting in France later this year or early next year, so we'll keep you updated as more details come out. Feb 9, 2012 - to read some of the comments you would think that godfather was being remade with jim carrey and jack black, a simple actor for a simple action film just like the 1st. the original wasn't so "original" in the 1st place, i agree hollywood needs to pull it's socks up, and stop pumping out tired remakes but a throw away action flick is always going to be cliche, that's what hollywood does best and thats why we watch them, if you want "real cinema" you look for the independents.
