Yeah, I know the title and some lyrics are wrong according to current fanon, but I've been working on this thing since before the fandom decided that Derpy was her actual name, which I think is kinda weird. Why couldn't her name still be Ditzy Doo? What if Derpy is just what everypony calls her? *sigh* Whatevs, I'm glad I'm finally getting this thing out here. Oh, her eyes face different ways and At first she seems quite dumb She dreams of mail and muffins Though the latter's number 1 She's also quite a klutz She aims so high but goes so low It's truly tragic, isn't it? They call this a children's show? I guess that's the gist She's a work of art And incase you happened To miss some parts Or if you're still confused Well, settle your heart We're gonna take it back Right to the start She wasn't always like this Tried so hard to fit right in Got unwarrented advice from people All with plastic grins I wouldn't call her happy But it was her only way out It turned out she was beyond 'help' Seemed to block her only route She became a lost young filly With no place to call her own Her heart had lost direction Her little dreams had flown Nowhere to go but down Nothing to feel but lost Tried to fit right in But at what cost? Nothing to work to Her salad's tossed (er..what?) If this sounds sad to you Blame Lauren Faust (even though I'm basically making this whole thing up on the fly..) Soon into adolescence Just cooped up in her room Her hopes have all but withered No room enough to bloom It might have been the end for her Or her story anyway But on one so faithful evening Of the saddest of her days A tiny package came for her And though skeptical at first She opened it and from deep within A muffin and a note emerged "Hello my dear niece Ditzy This is your aunt from Trottingham, I'm sending you my daughter, Dinky With your uncle Sam I have no time to explain why But I don't do this lightly, Just trust me, it's important You're my only hope, Derpy!" Ditzy almost choked on her muffin Forced to her senses there that day Thinking "Why did she sound like she's crapping? And more importantly: what the hay?!" Days later it did happen And Dinky arrived by train She could only look ahead and so she Packed her bags and never looked back again! So she got a place for the two of them It was Dinky's turn to grow Derpy delivers mail, everywhere 'cept for where it needs to go, As for how she came to adore muffins Well, don't ask me, I don't kno-ho-hoooooow! I don't know! I don't know!

Feb 7, 2012 - I second your fanon. I'm going to maintain the headcanon of "Ditzy Doo real name, Derpy Hooves nickname" until an in-universe birth certificate or similar thing pops up. I mean, it's not unlike Rainbow Dash to use a nickname if she has one, no?

Feb 7, 2012 - Shall I repeat the exact thing I said in the comment you replied to? It's not unlike Rainbow Dash to use an individual's nickname if they have a nickname. So Rainbow Dash using the name "Derpy" is not unsurprising if her real name is Ditzy Doo. I don't even care anymore after all the bitching that people descended to afterwards, it just annoys me that you couldn't be bothered to read a thing before replying to it.

Feb 7, 2012 - They are not proofs of her namt really beeing Derpy. The only one who brings up her name is what RD says, and that could easily just by a nick name like he said. Like PP saying: Careful, dashie. I still think her name is Derpy though, just don't present things that aren't proof as such.

Feb 7, 2012 - If only my photoshop hadn't freezed. This peculiar pony was named Ditzy Doo in WWU, although with purple hair, but caused the same annoyance with RD. It's pretty clear they are one and the same, and as Derpy became a recurring character for BG jokes her model was never used for another pony. So the purple one merged with her, making her both Ditzy Doo as Derpy. None of the canon can be dismissed. The whole 'muffin' love she got going would be from a non-canon voice.

Feb 7, 2012 - what I know of the derpy/ditzy debate : The wall-eyed pony model was either an error or a mischief of one of the animators. Bronies took that model as a whole character and decided to name her Derpy Hooves. Later a clumsy pony named Ditzy Doo was mentionned but not shown. For the sake of coherence, some bronies decided that Ditzy was Derpy's real name. In the same time, Lauren Faust acknowledged the brony community, and said the wall-eyed pony wasn't named yet, but she thought Derpy sounded good

Feb 7, 2012 - As work began on season 2, the creators of MlP decided to aknowledge this background pony the fans loved so much, and started adding her here and there as an easter egg. Finally, they decided to make it official by giving her a voice and a scene with Rainbow Dash. The fact that she's called Derpy is pretty much a tribute to the bronies. She was first designed by the creators of the show, but the character was built by the fans. And the fans were aknowledged by Derpy becoming "real."

But alot of fans have thought that that was her canon name, so they went with eighter or both;, the entierly fan made name "Derpy Hooves" and the canon name "Ditzy Doo". (Even though Ditzy most likely is somepony else.) Her name is Derpy.
