The echo of breath and the crick of rigor share space with a fractured spirit splintered like microscopic humors floating in ether. She's frozen. Wrenched to a page. One word etched in harsh ink. Define, period. The air gasps and stiffens. The pages turn absent of presence or pulse. The starch intensity of the empty pages blind her. They cease. Stop on the last page. the last word. Decide, period. Two words demarcated by pitch white nothingness. The unbearable message. The end.
