Deputy Prime Minister Silvan Shalom: If harsher sanctions are slapped on Iran, then it may abandon its nuclear program."Sanctions have had an influence in many places in the past and have proven themselves," Shalom told to the BBC reporter. "They brought down the regime in South Africa, they brought down Libya's nuclear program, they almost completely brought down North Korea and there would have been an agreement if the leader of North Korea hadn't passed away. I think they also have an impact in Iran, and that impact is very significant."
