"http://www.squidoo.com/the-world-food-crisis Forbes Magazine ran a story last October regarding the coming food crisis of 2012, which stated-among other things-that WalMart raised its prices 5.8% during the month of June. Of even greater significance was the fact that WalMart's prices are slowly inching their way to the same levels as Safeway and Kroger as well as other large supermarket chains. In other words, the undisputed king of low prices may not be able to hang onto the crown forever. The bottom line spin on this particular information seemed to be that we haven't seen anything yet, and that America is just one supply shock away from a full-blown food crisis that would make the price spikes of 2012 look like a happy memory. Prices Up All Over In 2012, the price of corn rose 63%, wheat rose 84%, soybeans 24% and sugar prices were up 55%. Some of the reasons for the increase in food prices included Russia's failed wheat harvest which resulted in a ban on grain exports through the end of 2012 (Russia exports a full quarter of the world's supplies of wheat). In America, Midwestern floods in June followed by hot, dry weather in August, caused the USDA to predict a 3.4% decline in corn production from 2012, causing further price spikes. Because the United States has routinely been blessed with record harvests, they have helped out other countries during times of drought. Food Stockpiles The point of Forbes' story-as well as the part which could actually cause food shortages in America-is that in September of 2012, the USDA estimated that global grain stockpiles totaled 432 million tons. While this sounds like an incredible amount of grain, in terms we can relate to, this is a mere 70 days of consumption. In 2012 that stockpile figure reached 64 days, and the food crisis of 2012 followed shortly thereafter. The question remains, what if America's 'record harvests', turn into one really bad production year-then what? Many analysts believe that because of our history of good harvests, we have fallen into complacency, and that when the next food crisis comes it will be a far bigger shock than the $150 dollar per barrel oil. Hungry People are Desperate People When people are hungry, they become desperate; our world is struggling to feed itself as we speak, and each and every day more mouths are added to that struggle. There are projected to be over nine billion people on earth by the year 2050, meaning starvation could become rampant as food supplies get tighter. The USDA believes the corn reserves will be at a 15-year low by the end of 2012, and the United Nations is predicting the global price of food will increase by another 30% by the end of 2012. Because of unprecedented-and some say 'biblical'-flooding in Australia, the winter wheat crop has been devastated. Brazil was also hit with some of the worst floods ever seen this winter, meaning a substantially hampered food production. China's Food Woes China is in the midst of preparing for a severe, long-lasting drought which will have a huge impact on their wheat production. At this point in time, nearly a billion people around the world go to bed hungry each and every night, and every 3.6 seconds someone in the world starves to death (75% of those are children under the age of five) Raw Story has reported that because of food shortages China is feeding its poor fake rice made from plastic. The rice is made by mixing potatoes, sweet potatoes and plastic; the potatoes are formed into the shape of rice grains to which industrial synthetic resins are added. The Chinese Restaurant Association stated that eating three bowls of this fake rice would be like eating one plastic bag. As food continues to become scarce around the world, it's likely we will see much more of these 'fillers' being added to our food. Extreme weather, the bee colony collapse (bees pollinate some 90% of the world's commercial crops), the collapsing dollar, the recent Food Safety Modernization Act, rising oil prices, increased soil pollution (the aluminum in the chemtrails being sprayed has contaminated soil, killed plants, and made much of the world's soil sterile) and the GMO giants needing to complete their takeover of the world's food-with all these things working together, we may see a food crisis of truly epic proportions in the very near future. http://survivalkitsbook.info/ "
