Feb 9, 2012 - What they need to do is get down to the nitty gritty of where the debt came from and much like the US I bet the Greek debt comes from too much military spending. People that don't rely on social programs are quick to put the blame there, but when you look at budgetary figures its simply not the case. There needs to be an accounting for all the money, where it went and not just the general item (we need receipts for each Dollar or Euro).

I hate to tell you this but its not a free lunch if we pay all our lives into social security then don't see a penny, its called robbery. Yes we expect the lunch if we're going to be paying taxes so its not free. I'm not sure where you get these weird ideas that its not military spending, plus we don't pay taxes so that money can go to Halliburton and others, we actually have a separate tax for SS which is solvent.

Sees kinda fishy if the government blows money knowing it will go into debt and have to borrow from their "buddies" in order to pay it off with interest, don't you see a conflict of interest there?

Feb 10, 2012 - I am all for cutting the military budget but you seem to be in denial. Go look at the pie chart, military spending is about the same as medicare and medicaid combined. SS is solvent? Haha. Do you even know how much the unfunded liabilities are? By 2020 SS, medicare and medicaid will eat up the whole budget. No money left for anything else. Go look it up if you don't believe me. Burying your head in the sand will not change facts.

Feb 10, 2012 - Well there are two things you're forgetting, one is they took money from the SS fund in order to fund the wars and two its a separate tax so no money should have been taken from it. According to some figures it would have a surplus of 1 trillion right now. I think people forget about all the people that payed into the system and died before they could collect on it or people that are well off enough that don't need it. They've also been cutting the benefits.

Well apparently most of the budget was going to military and interest on debt. Schools, Medicare, and social security weren't even close. So I'd like to see your pie chart and who its coming from because I feel that there are people promoting this idea you have in order to steal the taxes. If they can't prove where each dollar went then I'd be suspicious.

I just know certain people with an agenda have a habit of fudging the numbers or getting their numbers from unofficial websites. Pay attention to the conversation next time, you would have realized I mentioned seeing the numbers before. Social security has its own fund so if its true that they took money out for wars, then they need to pay it back. Its solvent.
