Yes, fish do make choices. I was in a weird mood when I made this. Also, If you say that you're going to have a BBQ and then you grill hot dogs, I will die a little bit inside.

Feb 7, 2012 - I very much agree with many of your points, just a few notes I would add: 1. I think you missed the reality layer of the bubble. As much as you choose to start flying with the power of your mind or create a 1000 word essay in a minute it is not going to happen. 2. There is more than one choice happening at one single time. Example; I just chose to start this sentence with "Example" but also to use English instead of Spanish, and to do all this at home. 3. Culture covers most of other bubbles

Feb 7, 2012 - These are all very good points - especially the first. There is defiantly a reality layer. Also, I think that being able to see through the reality layer (or atleast know that it's there) is a huge part of being creative. Then again, I guess it's also a huge part of being delusional. thanks.

Feb 7, 2012 - What would the bubbles look like for an animal other than a human? Or even just a human from 20,000 years ago? You talked about how much we avoid choice and protect ourselves from them, which I think is true. But I also think that today's humans are making more diverse choices than any other organism ever has. And it would seem to be increasing. Exponentially.

Feb 7, 2012 - Randall munroe (from xkcd) made a sort of related comic a couple of years ago. It's number 706.

Feb 7, 2012 - I like your camera angle choices. Also, I made the choice to watch this video instead of doing my reading for class, but I'm perfectly okay with that. Your videos always make me think, so you rock!

Feb 8, 2012 - that an interesting point. We've definently been chipping away at a lot of the culture related blinders in that we're choosing our own jobs and our own spouses (in some countries anyway). I guess we're chipping away at routine too given that most Americans don't eat rice and beans every day. At the same though, I think that we've transfered a lot of our decision-hiding responsibility over to layers like ...

Feb 8, 2012 - character and habit. Just think of the phrase "follow your heart". Saying "follow your heart" is kind of like saying "don't actually make that choice, just defer to what you character would normally do given the situation". Overall though, I do think that we are making more choices then we ever have in the past, and I think it will be interesting to see how we hold up under the pressure.

Feb 8, 2012 - That's awesome. Randall Munroe wins.

Feb 8, 2012 - congratulations for choosing, and thanks.

Feb 8, 2012 - Well, I'd say we're holding up pretty poorly. Well, maybe as a whole we're actually doing OK. But we certainly have rising rates of depression, anxiety, suicide, existential crises, ect. First world problems brought on by our expanding freedom. Like I said though, even though those things seem to be growing, I'd guess that most people are managing alright.

Feb 8, 2012 - Thanks for always giving me a lot to think about. I saw you had a new video up, so I made the choice to stay up a little later so I could watch it. I may regret this choice in the morning, when culture will intrude and I'll have to get up way too early, put on a tie (and other clothes), and head off to work....

Feb 8, 2012 - Watching this video was a good choice. Sharing it is another good choice. :D

Feb 8, 2012 - "Not choosing is also a choice." I learnt that from David Eddings (his Belgariad series).

Feb 10, 2012 - Your videos lately have been sounding similar to spoken word poetry. It is wonderful. As always very thought provoking! There is this theory about choices I heard the other day that basically said that each choice we make makes a split in the universe we are in. So there are infinite universes with infinite mes and yous and everyones with each choice a person made or didn't make. I don't think it is probable but it is any interesting thing to think about as well.

Feb 10, 2012 - This is an interesting way of thinking about it, as bubbles. I don't think a psychopath would have many bubbles, if any.

justinhabit Wypowiedź:

Feb 11, 2012 - In that case, there's a universe where this is a spoken word poem. I'm glad that you enjoyed it.

Feb 11, 2012 - There are worse things in the world than ties. hopfeully knowing that you made the choice will allow you to chose to enjoy getting up for work all the more.
