A demonstration of stopping distance on the Gerotek Banked Oval, West of Pretoria, South Africa. The total stopping distance on dry concrete was 278m from 200km/h. The vehicle is an E36 BMW 318i. This demonstration does not include reaction time, which would add another 60 to 180 metres, depending on many factors. On tar, the stopping distance would be longer, and on wet surfaces it might be as much as double the dry distance.
