Theatrical Fusion bellydance and performance artist, writer, lifelong student of music, and aspiring singer. General nerd. Hopeful mad scientist. Retired body piercer. Performer, Event Producer, Instructor. Deep roots in bellydance. Owner/Artistic Director for Illumination Dance Studio, Richmond's only studio dedicated to Bellydance in all it's forms. I'm a mama, fusionista, and piercer. I wear many hats, have and have had many fine teachers, and continue to learn and experience as much as I can in life. I don't believe in becoming stagnant; I pursue my life passionately and will always remain a student, open to what there is to be had of the amazing people in this world. In this I can give myself fully. I offer Fusion and Orientale bellydance performances, and host many events in Richmond. As a performer and artist I aim to present unique and soulful renderings of my craft. As a dance instructor, I place emphasis on emotion, technique, body and soul work, as well as the divine feminine experience. Dance is a many-faceted art form, and should be approached as such. I opened Illumination Dance Studio in September of 2010, Richmond's first studio dedicated to bellydance in all it's forms an incarnations; Illumination is intended to be yet another safe woman-centered space to Richmond. My hope is to provide a star in the constellation of lights coming forth in Richmond and the world. I am also a retired body piercer, with a strong passion for body modification of all forms, self expression, and the power of ritual and self imposed physical and esoteric experiences. I have committed my life to body modification, and spent nearly a decade offering piercing services at various tattoo and piercing establishments including Infinite Body Piercing in Philadelphia, and Onetribe LLC, an incredible organic body adornment company here in Richmond. In my time piercing, I was committed to offering safe piercing services, procedures, and jewelry, and in my last years of piercing have worked only by appointment here in Richmond in order to offer clients the most of my time and attention, along with consultations and procedures that emphasize individual needs and desires. While not actively offering procedures, body modification is still a very strong part of my identity as an artist and human, and I aim to continue to educate others and share experiences with those seeking to know their bodies and themselves better.
