Jim, the newly qualified lifeguard is demonstrating a straddle entry to the outdoor swimming pool at Avon Tyrrell Activity Centre in the New Forest. Straddle entry is a method of getting in to deeper water while keeping the head clear- to keep visual contact with the casualty

Jim is practicing his newly learned lifeguarding skills on Sparkles in the outdoor swimming pool at Avon Tyrrell Activity Centre in the New Forest. This skill called a Head Splint and is used to stabilise a casualty who is suspected of sustaining a spinal injury in waist deep water. Well done Jim!

In the Avon Tyrrell outdoor heated swimming pool, Jamie and Andy are helping Dan to get out of his kayak. Slightly unusual methods but it seems to work! Brings a new meaning to a wet exit!
